Hyosung’s creora bio-based elastane gets moving

A new range of athletic apparel by materials science brand Pangaia, Activewear 3.0, contains 3-8% creora bio-based elastane by fibre producer Hyosung, making the label the first in the world to include the SGS-certified “eco” stretch fibre in an activewear collection.

The elastane is 30% corn-based, sourced from industrial growers in the US.

Fulgar’s castor oil-derived Evo polyamide, a 99.99% plant-based performance fibre, rounds out the fabric composition with a 92-97% share of the total.

The made-in-Portugal collection of seamless athletic-ready bras, tops, shorts and leggings has also been treated with the brand’s odour-inhibiting and antimicrobial Pprmnt finish, a peppermint oil-based treatment that can last for up to 50 washes, Pangaia says.

“Pangaia is highly regarded for its innovative approach to new materials, and they are often referenced for leading the way in sustainable solutions,” commented Hyosung’s European marketing manager, Claire O’Neill.

“We are proud that such a reputable brand has partnered with Hyosung to help realise its vision of developing an advanced collection of plant-based activewear its customers will feel good about purchasing and wearing.”
