Hyosung suggests textile trends ahead of ISPO
Fibre producer Hyosung has revealed its textile trend forecast for autumn-winter 2023-2024, based on research conducted by its own Fashion Design Center (FDC), whose team spans the US, Asia and Europe.

The researchers have suggested that an overarching theme, which they call Interconnected Future, will form something of a megatrend for the season. Four subtrends – Sport Smart, Exploration of Outdoors, Practical Aesthetics and Science of Comfort – have subsequently been grouped under this banner, complete with the FDC’s recommendations for suitable yarns and applications from the Seoul-based manufacturer. These include recent developments creora bio-based elastane and Mipan regen ocean nylon, which is certified to Global Recycled Standard.

“We foresee enhanced interconnection among social, environmental and economic systems triggering a mindset shift from individualism to interconnectedness, shaping new customer attitudes and behaviours,” explained team and general manager Lewis Hong. “We [predict] textile trends focusing on materials that are kind to our environment and provide multi-function and comfort. Interesting surface detail is also important.”

The collection assembled for Sport Smart emphasises baselayers, winter-ready performance-leisure hybrids, all-weather water sport fabrics, fantasy-inspired aesthetics for streetwear and workout-appropriate smart textiles. Meanwhile, the Exploration of Outdoors subtrend considers extreme weather, featuring textiles with “new levels of protection", as well as functional outerwear fabrics suitable for all-day wear and periods of activity alike.

Practical Aesthetics, on the other hand, caters to those in need of performance-meets-home-activewear, in addition to office-ready loungewear and cosy teddy fleeces for both indoor and outdoor environments. Lastly, the Science of Comfort assortment leads with next-to-skin layers made from more “sustainable” fibres, including comfy underwear and loungewear with added compression and other performance properties.

Hyosung will spotlight concept garments made with said yarns at its stand at sports industry trade show ISPO Munich from November 28 to 30. The producer will be located inside Hall A1, booth 312.
