Changes to EOG leadership team ahead of ISPO

After an extraordinary general assembly of the European Outdoor Group (EOG), held prior to the start of sports industry exhibition ISPO Munich on November 28, Matt Gowar has been named co-founder Mark Held’s successor as president of the board.

General manager of outdoor footwear company AKU, Paolo Bordin, will in turn replace Mr Gowar as EOG vice-president. The latter founded Rab and Lowe Alpine owner Equip Outdoor Technologies in 1991 and currently serves as the firm’s chief executive.

Mr Held completed two terms as EOG president. The organisation’s general secretary, Arne Strate, has been in his own role since the beginning of 2019, after first joining the group in early 2016.

“I leave the EOG in excellent hands,” Mr Held commented. “When I agreed to take on the role in 2019, I was blissfully unaware of some of the challenges that lay ahead. However, the very nature of the EOG and what it stands for have enabled us to navigate our way through some tumultuous times.

"One look at our line-up of events for ISPO this week demonstrates how far we’ve come as an organisation that supports, represents and, where appropriate, leads the whole outdoor sector.”
