China’s ITMA Asia + CITME postponed for a year
Despite organisers’ confirmation that November’s scheduled event would go ahead only last month, joint textile machinery exhibition ITMA Asia + CITME 2022 has been pushed back to November 2023 due to local pandemic uncertainty.
Since 2008, the event has typically taken place biannually in Shanghai as a combined effort on the part of ITMA’s Asian arm, established in Singapore in 1999, and CITME (China International Textile Machinery Exhibition).
The ITMA brand is owned by the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, known as CEMATEX.
“Due to present circumstances in China, we have decided to reschedule the show for next year, when the pandemic situation is expected to have stabilised. We believe it is in the interest of the industry that we postpone the exhibition, to allow greater [international] participation,” commented CEMATEX president, Ernesto Maurer.
Co-organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co and ITMA, with Japan Textile Machinery Association as a partner, the show is owned by CEMATEX alongside several Chinese partners. These include China’s Sub-Council of the Textile Industry (CCPIT-TEX), China Textile Machinery Association and the China International Exhibition Center group.
Back in August, organisers announced that they expected 950 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions to attend the now-rescheduled event. The new dates are yet to be confirmed.
