Canada Goose lands on new China lead
Specialist outdoor brand Canada Goose, based in Toronto, has appointed Larry Li (pictured) to the role of president, China.
Mr Li will report to the brand’s Asia-Pacific president, Paul Cadman, himself onboarded back in November.
“Running China from China has been pivotal to our success in the market,” commented chairman and chief executive, Dani Reiss. “Larry’s luxury experience in China makes him uniquely suited to lead the local team, drive our business forward and seize the strategic opportunities that we see ahead."
Mr Li was most recently managing director for China at Dunhill. Before this, he worked in various senior management roles across LVMH brands Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Kenzo in both Shanghai and Tokyo. He described joining Canada Goose as an honour.
The new president's remit now includes overseeing all commercial, marketing and financial activities in the mainland Chinese market from the firm's regional headquarters in Shanghai.
“Canada Goose’s functionality, purpose and design in performance luxury has deeply resonated in China,” he said. “I look forward to building on this great foundation and bringing the company vision to life.”
Having first entered the market in 2018, mainland China is now home to 16 Canada Goose stores, making it the brand’s largest retail network. It opened its newest address in Xi’an in May, with another three boutiques to follow in Tianjin, Qingdao and Chengdu this coming autumn.
Collaborations with local designers Feng Chen Wang and Xu Zhen are also set to be released in time for the autumn-winter 2022 season.
