Xiamen a centre for September sports shows

The south-eastern coastal city of Xiamen in China’s Fujian province has already played host to the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in September and is now gearing up for the China Sport Show, set to take place there over September 16-19.

This latest edition of CIFIT, its twenty-second, for the first time included a sportswear fashion show, complete with a 4,000-square-metre exhibition hall and a forum dedicated to the development of the activewear industry and bilateral investment.

Sports apparel, equipment, technology and various services from brands including Anta, Xtep and Peak Sport were all on display, with presentations and roundtable discussions from the likes of China National Textile and Apparel Council also taking place. (Peak Sport established a sports science laboratory in the city late last year.)

The upcoming China Sport Show will be held at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center.

During what will be its fortieth edition, show organisers including China Sporting Goods Federation expect to see more than 1,300 exhibitors from across the nation display their latest innovations within a 150,000-square-metre exhibition space. Upwards of 100,000 visitors are expected to attend, with an option to participate in 50 concurrent events.

Last year’s show, which took place in Shanghai, was of a similar scale. Representatives from over 3,000 brands joined in with the proceedings, along with 1,307 exhibitors and 93,284 visitors. The majority of visitors (63.42%) hailed from East China, according to an official report published after the event.
