Record-breaking Rossignol sets circular ambitions

On the back of record revenues for 2022, French ski and outdoor brand Rossignol will begin planting poplar trees in Spain as part of a wider plan to make one-third of its ski ranges within a circular approach by 2028.

The plantation will supply two ski factories, in Artés (Spain) and Sallanches (France), with the goal of covering 50% of the annual requirement for wood.

The group aims to plant 50,000 trees within the next 15 years and to capture 14,000 tonnes of CO2.

Rossignol is also installing solar panels in Artés, optimising industrial processes to reduce waste, and making the Sallanches manufacturing site into a “centre of expertise for repair and second life for skis”.

Its new Rossignol Essential ski is 77% recyclable, which it estimates is 10 times that of a traditional ski.

The group also aims to reduce waste by 40% between 2022 and 2025 and lower its carbon footprint by 30%.

Vincent Wauters, CEO of the Rossignol Group, said 2022 far exceeded its best performances pre-covid: “I am extremely proud of our teams’ outstanding work over the past two years, which has led to a solid financial and commercial strengthening of the Rossignol Group. Thanks to their collective talent and their unwavering commitment, we have achieved a record year and a spectacular rebound in only 24 months.”

The group achieved revenues of €401 million in the year to March 31, 2023, an increase of 28%.
