Louis Vuitton returns as America’s Cup title partner

French luxury house Louis Vuitton will return as America’s Cup title partner following the Summer Olympics in Paris next August.

The luxury goods company takes over from Italy’s Prada, sponsor of the international sailing competition since 2017. Louis Vuitton makes its return in time for the thirty-seventh edition of the Cup in Barcelona.

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, Ineos Britannia, New York Yacht Club American Magic and Orient Express Racing will all first compete for the 2024 Louis Vuitton Cup, before the winner goes on to battle it out against defending champions Emirates Team New Zealand for the top prize. Louis Vuitton will produce a trophy trunk for the storage of both.

Sometimes referred to as Auld Mug, the America’s Cup dates back to 1851. Now the oldest or longest-running trophy in international sport, it typically takes place every four years.

Louis Vuitton, meanwhile, was founded in 1854. Chairman and chief executive, Pietro Beccari, commented: “It is with an immense sense of pride that we return to this historical competition as title partner. Port Vell of Barcelona will be the setting for a display of elegance and power, where teams will compete with boldness, talent and mastery on increasingly innovative yachts.

“These values equally reflect the spirit of Louis Vuitton and its artisans.”
