Mare di Moda first at Milano Unica
The general manager of the Mare di Moda exhibition, Franco Taiana, has said an inaugural attempt to present the Cannes event in a show-in-show set-up at Milano Unica had been a success.
For the first time, Milano Unica included a Mare di Moda section at its July 2024 edition, with 16 exhibitors showing their newest collection of fabrics for swimwear.
While most exhibitors at Milano Unica were showing fabrics for fashion season autumn-winter 2025-2026, participants in the Mare di Moda section, including The Lycra Company, Eurojersey, Iluna Group and Maglificio Ripa, were showing preview samples of fabrics for summer 2026.
Mr Taiana explained that these companies were already used to preparing previews of their collections so far in advance to have them ready for other July fabric shows whose schedules have been disrupted this year owing to the Paris Olympics.
It was, therefore, no extra work for them to have samples ready for Milano Unica, he said. More than that, he explained that having options to see buyers in Milan at this stage in the sourcing cycle had been of benefit to participating companies.
The next Mare di Moda takes place in Cannes in November.
