Drirelease turns up the heat

06/03/2025
US-based maker of dual component yarns, Optimer is highlighting Dri Release Heat at Performance Days this week. This thermal insulation solution combines microdenier acrylic with either wool or lyocell, in line with the company’s technology that combines the performances of synthetics with those of natural fibres.

Here, acrylic provides warmth and bulk, thanks to its hygroscopic and heat-generating properties, Feyzi Arpacioglu, business development manager for Europe, told Sportstextiles. A brand can choose either wool or lyocell as an accompanying fibre to deliver moisture management and wick sweat away. Like all Drirelease references, these properties are inherent to the yarn construction and will thus last the life of the item of clothing.

Tests have shown that Drirelease Heat Technology can generate 1.6°C, according to the Determination of Dynamic Hygroscopic Heat Generation (ISO 18782) method.
