Spider silk company issues statement
Following the announcement by Kraig Biocraft of the development of a new strain of silkworms, the company has issued a statement to its shareholders. It said that this project had been the main focus of its genetics team for the past 18 months.

Its current spider silk is said to be produced by a ‘single hybrid’ and the development of a double hybrid model is believed to “significantly improve production rates”, by as much as 25% per month it said. The company expects the new strain to be more robust with regards to disease and adverse weather conditions.

In a letter to the company’s shareholders, Kim Thompson, Kraig Biocraft CEO, said that the firm was in advanced talks with three global brands, one operating in luxury fashion, the other two in performance sportswear and athletic equipment. He said deliveries to these potential customers were expected to begin in the second half of this year.
