Kraig secures millions to advance spider silk

US-based Kraig Biocraft Laboratories (Kraig Labs) recently announced its securement of $4 million in expansion capital, which the enterprise will use to further progress the commercialisation and sale of genetically engineered spider silk, Kraig Labs said.

Company founder and CEO, Kim Thompson, commented: “This is a major financial milestone for Kraig. For many years, we have operated on a shoestring budget, building a solid foundation with our spider silk production system.

“We are now prepared to reap the rewards of that careful investment with opportunities to put this capital to work building materials, products and brands.”

Kraig Labs has previously said that it is passionate about researching, developing and commercialising high-performance fibres based on its spider silk.
