Anne-Laure Descours, Puma’s former chief sourcing officer, has joined the board of Haelixa, a traceability solution provider based in Switzerland. She is also a board-member of Gildan Activewear. 

“Our biggest challenge is getting our solution to the right people,” said Haelixa CEO Patrick Strumpf. He recruited the supply chain specialist specifically to address this gap in the company’s strategy. 

Ms Descours is based in Hong Kong, from which she will be reaching out to manufacturers, instead of seeking to create traction by focusing on brands. In her career at Puma, she spearheaded the German brand’s Re:Fibre, polyester textile-to-textile recycling initiative, which poses specific traceability challenges, she noted. Haelixa’s DNA-based physical tracer is easy to spray on at any point in the recycling process. This makes it possible to track the flow and percentage of mechanically recycled fibres in new materials and products, Mr Strumpf said.
