Indorama ushers in skin-friendly polyester

13/10/2025
Thai polyester producer Indorama is introducing a new ‘skin-friendly’ offering in its deja platform of sustainable fibres. The new deja Care yarns are specifically tested to certify the absence of 17 harmful chemicals, the company said, in addition to carrying Oeko-Tex certification.

To achieve this, Indorama uses “more environmentally friendly” chemicals during the polyester polymerisation process. These are currently used to make performance hygiene products such as baby wipes and diapers. The company added that fabric manufacturers will also benefit from cleaner wastewater and a reduction in sludge generation.

deja Care yarns primarily target such markets as maternity wear, underwear, infant and children’s clothing along with school uniforms. Next-to-skin activewear could also be a good option for this new yarn segment.
