Paradise Textiles maps plans for new low-impact textile mill in Egypt
Paradise Textiles, a textile division of Taiwan-based Alpine Group, has announced the launch of a new fabric making facility in the Amreya Public Free Zone of Alexandria, Egypt. The $102 million budgeted project has received a $72 million financing agreement from the Commercial International Bank-Egypt (CIB).
The group has set a high bar for environmental performance and intends to install energy-efficient machinery, reduce water usage and monitor all impacts. The facility will be equipped with a patented microfibre filtration system, Regen, designed specifically for textile production by Matter, a British climate tech company. Paradise Textiles has been working with Matter since 2022 to develop the ‘self-cleaning filtration’ technology that is said to be a low cost and low energy microfibre capture system in wastewater. Matter claims that a single manufacturing site could save up to 3 million kilowatt-hours annually and capture over 90 tonnes of fibrous effluent.
The new factory is expected to begin operations in late 2026 and will produce fabrics made from polyester and synthetic fibres for activewear and sportswear brands in the United States and Europe. It is expected to create some 1,200 new jobs over the next two years. Egypt benefits from a duty-advantaged access to the United States under the Qualifying Industrial Zones (QIZ) agreement, which positions it as an increasingly strategic manufacturing hub, the company said.
