M&S buys ASOS' DC to boost online business

Retailer M&S has bought a 437,000 square-foot fully automated fashion distribution centre in Lichfield, central England, to help it realise an ambition of doubling the size of its online fashion business.

The former ASOS site will become part of the M&S network next year and will employ 600.

It will enable customers to order later in the day, with more sizes and styles available.

John Lyttle, M&S managing director for fashion, home and beauty, said: “Supply chain transformation is a strategic priority as M&S reshapes for growth; shortening the time it takes for product to move from supplier to distribution centre and then into stores or customers is a key focus.”
