New senior appointment at Icebreaker

New Zealand-based merino specialist Icebreaker has appointed Mark Koppes vice-president of product. He will be responsible for developing and directing the company’s global product design strategy.                

Mr Koppes has more than 28 years’ experience in retail, online and wholesale channels within the sport and outdoor industry. Most recently, he was vice-president, merchandising and planning at Backcountry.com. Prior to that he served as vice-president, apparel, at Columbia Sportwear and he also worked at Nike for 15 years, ending his tenure there as general manager, apparel.

“Mark is an outstanding leader with deep apparel experience,” said Jeremy Moon, Icebreaker founder and CEO. “He also has fantastic experience in the outdoor industry and multi-brand online experience. Mark is a real Icebreaker and the perfect person to take Icebreaker’s product to the next level.”

Based in Wellington, Icebreaker produces merino clothing for the outdoor, technical sport and lifestyle sectors. Its products are sold in more than 3,000 stores across 44 countries.
