New Zealand-based merino wool brand Icebreaker has hired Peter Ottervanger as general manager for Europe – a market that now makes up 45% of sales.

Mr Ottervanger was most recently general manager for Sole Technology EMEA, where he managed European direct markets, distributors and agents for its footwear and apparel brands, and developed new markets in the Middle East and Africa and, prior to that, managed O’Neill Europe’s retail division.

“Peter’s strong leadership experience in growing the European market for global footwear and apparel brands will be an incredible asset to Icebreaker,” said Rob Fyfe, Icebreaker’s CEO.

He will be based at the company’s European headquarters in Starnberg, Germany, from October 1.
