Jeremy Moon hands over the reins at Icebreaker
New Zealand-based merino wool brand Icebreaker has promoted Rob Fyfe to CEO, following nine months on the board as executive chairman.

He will work alongside founder and former CEO Jeremy Moon (pictured) to grow the brand.

In the new corporate structure, which will take effect on June 2, Mr Moon will take on the position of executive chairman and creative director.

“It was a big decision for me to hand over our business to another CEO, but I’ve seen Rob’s passion for what we are building at Icebreaker and I really admire his skills, especially with people,” said Mr Moon. “In the end, it was easy for me to put my total trust in Rob.”

Mr Fyfe was most recently the CEO of Air New Zealand, where he was credited with driving a turnaround in the airline's strategy and culture and maintaining profitability during economic downturns.

“For the past 19 years, Icebreaker has truly excelled in establishing the merino wool category for outdoor apparel by leading exceptional product innovation,” said Mr Fyfe.

Icebreaker operates 19 retail stores, has 4,000 wholesale customers and 400 employees. Sales have tripled in the last six years and are projected to exceed $200m in 2014,  with 80% from Europe and North America.
