Crailar gains favourable customs ruling

10/02/2014
US-based Crailar Technologies, which produces and markets Crailar flax fibre, has received a favourable US Customs classification and tariff ruling that designates Crailar as a natural fibre that is neither synthetic nor man-made.

Because of improved fibre quality from its European facility, independent spinners are producing yarns with 60% Crailar content with significantly less spinning waste, according to the company.

Dependent upon product type, these developments allow manufacturers to save up to 84% of current tariffs when Crailar is the majority content of the product, it added.
