Raw material shortage forces Archroma to raise prices

24/04/2014
Swiss chemicals company Archroma has raised the prices for its textile dyes to offset the increasing costs of its raw materials and chemicals.

Stringent environmental controls, particularly in China, have led to shortages and price increases across the value chain, it said, and has most affected it intermediate chemicals H acid, bromaminic acid and anthraquinone derivatives.

“We have been faced with wave after wave of dramatic cost increases for critical raw materials and dye intermediate chemicals,” said Alan Cunningham, head of textile dyes marketing at Archroma.

“Our latest discussions with producers confirm that the pressure on costs is increasing further. As a result we are faced with no alternative but to announce immediately a new wave of price rises across a wide range of our products.”
