Unifi plans big push for Repreve recycled yarns

01/08/2014

Yarn manufacturer Unifi is planning to add performance and sustainability characteristics to Repreve, the group’s flagship recycled product family.

On announcing preliminary results for fiscal 2014 when income almost doubled, its chief operating officer, Roger Berrier, said it had completed expansion of Repreve’s Recycling Centre in the US.

"We are very pleased with the full year results generated from our domestic business, which reflects the continued growth in our value-added and differentiated products, increased demand from the CAFTA region, and the ability to provide pricing stability throughout the year based on consistent raw material costs," he added.

Net income for the year was $28.8 million, compared with $16.6 million the year prior.

Improvement in the company's domestic operations was somewhat offset by unfavourable currency translations in Brazil and lower volumes in China.
