Teijin concentrates on carbon fibre for sports goods
Japan’s Teijin Group has developed new applications for carbon and aramid fibre-reinforced composites and will present them at China Composites Expo 2014 in Shanghai from September 3 to 5.
New products include bicycle wheels made with improved ultra-lightweight carbon fibre fabrics and two filament yarns, Twaron Black and Technora Black, both black versions of high-modulus para-aramid fibres that were originally available only in yellow. The fibres are suited to applications requiring stiffness and lightness, such as motorcycle helmets, hockey sticks and other sporting goods.
Teijin has 16,000 employees in 20 countries. It posted sales of $7.7 billion in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014.
