Teijin announces new sports textiles product

Japanese fibre and fabric manufacturer Teijin has announced that it has developed an “advanced, high-comfort, high-density fabric”, called Delta 2000, which it says will offer excellent performance for use in outerwear and sporting applications.

On making the announcement, Teijin described Delta 2000 as having a distinctive structure comprising a warp of densely and finely crimped bulky yarn and a weft of ultra-thin yarn.

This construction allows airspaces to be minimised, giving a 2,000-millimetre water resistance column, while an aerated fine-waffle structure provides a high level of water-shedding performance.

As an uncoated fabric, Delta 2000 will offer good moisture permeability, a soft texture and a “luxurious surface appearance”, the company said.
