G-Star and Pharrell Williams launch new ocean-supporting collection

Dutch denim brand G-Star has joined forces with US singer-songwriter Pharrell Williams to launch a new collection of clothes and accessories deriving from plastic bottles removed as pollution from the world’s oceans.

Yarn manufacturer, New York-based Bionic, was also a key partner as it’s Bionic that takes plastic from the oceans and breaks it down into chips, shreds it into fibres and then spins it into strong core yarn. It helixes this yarn with cotton to make Bionic, which G-Star has used to make material it calls New Wave for the new collection.

Called Raw for the Oceans, the collection is curated and co-designed by Pharrell Williams. It comprises jeans, jackets, T-shirts and accessories.
