Sherpa Adventure Gear thanks wellwishers after Nepal earthquake

Founder of Nepal-based outdoor brand Sherpa Adventure Gear, Tashi Sherpa, has issued a message on social media to thank customers, suppliers and other people in the industry for messages of support following the devastating earthquake that hit his country on April 25.

Relief operations got under way almost immediately, but Nepal’s prime minister, Sushil Koirala, said on April 28 that he fears the death toll may be more than 10,000.

Tashi Sherpa said there had been no victims among his company’s workforce and that its factory in the capital city, Kathmandu, had borne the brunt of the earthquake and the after-shocks that followed quite well. However, he said there had been casualties among his employees’ families, which he described as “heartbreaking”.

He said: “I just want to say thank you to those who reached out to us.  There is much we can do together to help and we will be making plans to see where best we can reduce the pain of the present and help to ease the future for those who need to see hope.”
