The grand opening ceremony included traditional performances, Nepalese food and complimentary beverages for those in attendance.
The brand has said it is trying to create “a unique brand experience not previously available in the US” with the store, which features furnishings and decor curated from Nepal. The store also displays iconic images and climbing memorabilia from Sherpa athlete and renowned climber Lakpa Rita Sherpa.
“Opening a store in Seattle is something we’ve always dreamed of doing,” said Tsedo Sherpa-Ednalino, chief operating office of Sherpa. “Being able to interact and create one-on-one connections with our customers while sharing our brand story and ethos with more people is what we’ve been striving for.”
He added that by growing the brand, the founders hope to be able to give more back to their native Nepal in the form of job opportunities and educational support for students.
For her part, the president of Sherpa, Kelsie Costa, explained that the decision to open Sherpa’s first US flagship store was taken with the strategic growth of the brand in mind. She said it will allow Sherpa to gain valuable insight into its customers and their feelings towards its product offering.
