USITC investigating textile imports from Nepal

18/04/2016
The US International Trade Commission (USITC) is seeking to determine whether certain textile and apparel products from Nepal are import sensitive.

The investigation was requested by the US Trade Representative (USTR) in March and the USITC will assess the impact of providing duty-free treatment for the 66 products on US imports, competing US industries and consumers. The products include luggage cases, handbags, carpets, scarves, hats and glove.

The USITC is expected to submit its classified report by September 29 before issuing a public version with any confidential information omitted at a later date.
