11/05/2016
Spider silk developer Kraig Biocraft Laboratories has announced the creation of four new lines of transgenic silkworms based on the company’s most complex protein designs yet.

The new designs are expected to have applications in performance apparel, medical, and ballistic protection due to their strength improvements which provide better durability.

“These are the most complex genetic constructions that we have ever created in the Company’s history,” said Kraig Biocraft COO Jon Rice. “This work represents a significant breakthrough in our efforts to bring transformative technical fibers to market.”

The company will now begin testing the four new transgenics in order to assess their performance and determine the applications that they are most suited to.
