13/05/2016
The startup has developed a way of spinning spider silk and other insect fibres into yarn that is suitable for use in items of apparel. The silk fibres are engineered from the proteins found in spider webs, a process reported to be much easier than those needed for natural silk manufacturing.
CEO Dan Widmaier also announced at TechCrunch Disrupt NY that the company had raised $50 million in a Series C round of venture funding, allowing it to make plans to scale up production of the fabric.
