Production set to begin at Kraig facility

Spider silk developer Kraig Biocraft Laboratories is almost ready to begin production at its new facility in Indiana, US.

The buildout of the facility is complete and Kraig has installed the last piece of process equipment required. It now needs to complete all pre-productions checks and will start bringing in silkworms during the next week.

“The Indiana production centre represents our first domestic production expansion and is a major step towards our near term goal of a fully self-contained US spider silk production facility,” said Kraig COO Jon Rice.

“The opening of this facility is an exciting moment for Kraig Labs and the future of commercially sustainable spider silk production,” said added CEO and founder Kim Thompson.

The facility was set up to help Kraig fulfil its contract with the US government. There will be additional production capacity to satisfy the needs of other clients.
