Moncler sales rise in Q1
Ski brand Moncler reported consolidated revenues of $237.3 million in the first quarter of 2016, up 18% on the same period last year on the back of strong growth in China. In currency-neutral terms this represented an increase of 17%.

In Asia & Rest of the World revenues rose 30% (with growth recorded in all markets. Strong sales in Mainland China were driven by the success of the Spring/Summer collections and the effect of Chinese New Year. Growth in Japan was also strong with excellent results from the company’s flagship store in Tokyo.

Sales were up 28% in the Americas due to solid growth in direct and wholesale channels. New store openings helped to drive retail growth. Globally Moncler now operates 175 directly-operated stores compared to 151 at this time last year. 30 of those stores are in North America.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa grew 5% despite weaker-than-expected performance in Belgium and France where recent terrorist attacks have reduced tourist flow. Germany and the UK were standout performers in Northern European markets. Italy, whose figures Moncler considers separately, also showed a 5% increase in revenue.
