New functional fabrics from Creora eco-soft and CoolVisions combination
29/07/2016
The combination makes possible polypropylene-based stretch fabrics for activewear, competitive swimwear, and intimate apparel. Creora eco-soft brings a better hand feel, improved whiteness, and “superior dimensional stability” to stretch fabrics, Hyosung has said, adding that the low-heat settable spandex also results in better moulding performance and less curling in the high-gauge knits preferred
by manufacturers and brands.
“There is a trend for super quick-dry fabrics which is delivered by CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene fibres,” said Ria Stern, Creora’s global marketing director. “We have worked closely with FiberVisions to optimise the fabric development process.”
For her part, Susan Lynn, US marketing manager for FiberVisions, said: “Polypropylene fibre is among the lightest of all commercial fibres, with low moisture absorption and excellent moisture transport, making it ideal for fabrics worn next to the body.” She went on to say that polyolefin fibres such as polypropylene “have the lowest carbon footprint of all synthetic fibres”, and she made it clear that she believes textile manufacturers who choose to use the CoolVisions and Creora eco-soft pairing can potentially reduce their carbon emissions.
Co-developed fabrics will be on display at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market exhibition in Salt Lake City (August 3 – 6).
