US wants to increase apparel imports from Bangladesh

Following a meeting with high-ranking officials from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA), US ambassador to Bangladesh, Marcia Bernicat, said the US wants to increase the import of apparel and other products from the country.

“The US is the second largest market for Bangladesh's clothing products after the European Union and will source more apparel's from the country,” the ambassador said.

The meetings at the BGMEA’s headquarters saw the parties discuss various issues concerning the apparel industry, including Bangladesh’s export potential to the US market.

“Since we are committed, we have encouraged all US businesses to come here and continue doing their business here,” Ms Bernicat added.
