‘Skills 21 – empowering citizens for inclusive and sustainable growth’ is a collaboration with the Bangladeshi government. It has a total budget of €20 million, of which the EU will contribute €19.5 million.
The project hopes to assist the government in developing its own vocational training model. This will include studies of successful frameworks from other countries, with the intention of adapting them to the needs of Bangladesh.
Pierre Mayaudon, the EU ambassador in Bangladesh, said at the signing ceremony in Dhaka that the EU has identified education and skills development as key priorities for the country.
The four-year project will be implemented from January 2017. It will cover a range of sector including the ready-made garment industry.
