Honduras to get synthetic yarn plant
06/02/2017
With a capacity of more than 25,000 tonnes of yarn per year, it will be the largest plant of its kind in Central America. It will create a total of 250 direct jobs and approximately 300 indirect ones.
The facility will specialise in the production of draw texturised yarn, which can be used to create synthetic garments, sportswear and stain-resistant apparel.
Juan Carlos Zighelboim, director of Unitexa, said the yarn produced at the plant would remain in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, where it will be turned into products to be exported to the North American market. He added that he hopes large sportswear brands like adidas and Nike would be interested in purchasing the material.
