Textiles are a key part of Taiwan’s trade strategy
The President of Taiwan, Tsai-Ing Wen recently toured Central America to assess the region’s potential for textile manufacturing. She was joined on her trip by Chan Cheng-Tien, chairman of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF).

President Tsai visited Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador, as well as attending a lunch with more than 800 Taiwanese expats in San Francisco, US.

At the event, she said that textiles should be at the heart of any discussion regarding Taiwan’s future trade agreements and strategies, local media reported.

She added that there was good development potential in the Central American countries she visited. All four have free-trade agreements with the US, which could be advantageous for Taiwanese manufacturers operating there.
