Honduras secures investment for textile sector

Ramfiz Rodriguez, international promotion and communication manager for Honduras 2020, said the funds have so far been used to modernise equipment, expand industrial parks, improve port and road infrastructure, train workers, and build renewable energy facilities.
The project was launched in 2016 by the Honduran government, which has so far invested $3.4 billion. Its goals include increasing annual textile exports to $7.4 billion and creating 200,000 jobs by 2020.
According to Mr Rodriguez, Honduran textile company Elcatex is one of several increasing their output of synthetic fibres. He added that a number of US, Chinese and European investors are also exploring opportunities in synthetic fibre manufacturing facilities in Honduras.
