Vietnam’s fabric imports are on the rise

12/06/2017
Vietnam imported fabrics worth $3.3 million during the first four months of 2017, an increase of nearly 7% year-on-year, according to figures from the national Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The fabrics were mostly imported from other countries in Asia, with China leading the way with a 52% share.

The country’s textile and garment industry relies heavily on imported materials; data from the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) shows that domestic manufacturers import 86% of their fabrics.
