Vietnam targets $30 billion in textile exports in 2017

16/01/2017
The general director of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), Le Tien Truong, has said the country is aiming to grow its exports of textiles and garments by 7% in 2017 to $30 billion.

Vietnam’s textile exports grew 5.7% in 2016, but the total of $28.3 billion was below the country’s target for the year.

Mr Truong said the growth of the US economy and the increase in global textile and garment consumption will contribute to making this target attainable. He added that it will also require businesses to perform strongly and for further development of Vietnam’s infrastructure.

He urged Vietnamese companies to increase their productivity, strengthen their distribution networks in international markets and reduce delivery time.
