At the time of writing, this trumps the 10 that its US rival Nike has at the 32-team tournament, although Iran has not yet confirmed who its official kit sponsor will be.
Among the teams that will wear Adidas kits are Argentina, Belgium, Spain, hosts Russia and current champions Germany (pictured). Nike will sponsor the likes of Brazil, England, France and Poland.
Many of the high-profile names to miss out on qualification for the tournament, such as Chile, the Netherlands and the US, are sponsored by Nike.
German brand Puma, which sponsored eight nations at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, can only count on Switzerland and Uruguay for next year’s tournament.
New Balance and Umbro will also each sponsor two teams, while Errea Sport, Hummel International, Uhlsport and Romai Sports will each sponsor one.
