A ceremony was held at the start of November to officially launch the Association of Ghana Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM), an organisation that seeks to support and advocate for the country’s apparel industry.

Among its main aims are to spur the growth of garment manufacturing in the country and to create sustainable employment opportunities. It will also seek to help its members adopt global best practices and implement new technologies so that Ghana can become the preferred apparel manufacturing hub in Africa.

At the inauguration ceremony in the Ghanaian capital Accra, the president of AGAM, Gregory Kankoh, said he hoped the organisation will facilitate communication between key stakeholders so that the key challenges facing the industry can be confronted.

He added that it will look to build a strong network to allow companies to exchange ideas and build partnerships which will help enhance their businesses.
