Adidas and Manchester United take ocean-plastic football shirts forward
21/05/2018
In 2016, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid wore shirts made from ocean plastic in one-off matches and in April 2018 teams in the US followed suit for matches played on the Earth Day weekend.
Now, however, the material has been used in a mainstream shirt, albeit one that Manchester United will wear rarely.
The shirt, blue in colour, will also commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the club’s first European Cup win.
Adidas made it available to supporters on May 11 and said the team will first wear the shirt in preparation games for the 2018-2019 season.
