YKK shows recycled zippers at Outdoor Retailer

19/06/2019
Zip manufacturer YKK has offered details about a zipper product that it has on display at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver (June 18-20). It claims the product in question, Natulon, has saved millions of plastic bottles from landfill in the past five years.

The zippers are made from PET bottles, old fibre and other polyester remnants, according to YKK. It has said that 10,000 Natulon zippers of 60 centimetre length use approximately 3,600 recycled plastic bottles. They are also bluesign certified.

Natulon is the latest addition to YKK’s range of sustainable trims. It also includes its GreenRise zipper, made from plant-based materials. In addition, there are snaps and buttons made using a new finishing process that reduces energy and water usage and results in less waste.
