South Tyrol-based outdoor group Oberalp has announced the acquisition of US climbing shoe brand Evolv. It adds it to a portfolio that already includes outdoor brand Salewa and alpine sports clothing brand Dynafit.

Announcing the acquisition, Oberalp said: “We can now be a total solutions provider in the growing climbing sector, together with our brand Wild Country, which mainly focuses on technical hardware."

Evolv was founded in 2003 by Brian Chung. It initially targeted climbers in southern California before growing into an international brand. Oberalp’s plans for its new acquisition include growing its market share in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Its headquarters will remain in California.
