ASICS takes a stake in Spanish start-up

Sports group ASICS has invested in a Spanish smart fabrics start-up, Pyrates. It confirmed at the end of September that it had taken an unspecified equity stake in Pyrates.

Founded in 2014 and based in Madrid, Pyrates has developed a range of knitted fabrics for use in sportswear and other clothing.

ASICS has said it will launch a capsule collection using some of the Pyratex fabrics at the start of 2020.
