Madrid-based Pyratex said that it is currently running selected bulk productions for pioneering clients that could soon be launched in the market.
The prospect of having access to recycled fibres made from Circ’s future facility in France was a signal for Pyratex to scale volumes. The new references include a ribbed knit made from 60% Circ recycled lyocell and 40% organic cotton and a heavier weight knit made from 99% Circ lyocell with 1% recycled elastane. Other references are made from Circ recycled polyester with recycled elastane, Sportstextiles has been told.
Circ has developed an innovative hydrothermal process that separates the cotton cellulose from polyester in polycotton blended materials. It said that it uses water, heat, pressure and responsible chemistry to break down the polyester into building blocks without damaging the cotton cellulose, thus enabling the recovery of both materials. The recovered cellulose is then converted into a lyocell fibre (replacing the conventionally used wood pulp in the process) and the polyester can be used like any regular polyester.
