Italian group puts Sanitized into range of yarns
Italian spinning group Alpes Manifattura Filati has worked with Swiss partner Sanitized to develop antibacterial and antimicrobial treatments for the wool-acrylic, pure cotton, and Primaloft polyester yarns it produces.
This treatment eliminates bacteria and microbes and protects against odour from bacterial proliferation, increasing a feeling of comfort and freshness for wearers of garments made from the yarns.
The treatment does not change the hand-feel of the yarn and complies with safety regulations, including for garments that come into direct contact with the skin.
Specialist combed yarns producer Alpes Manifattura Filati said that the Sanitized finish is guaranteed to remain effective in finished garments for 20 washes. Analysis it commissioned from accredited laboratories in Switzerland had detected bacteriostatic activity with a value of 99.99% after the twentieth wash.
