Odour-free innovation bypasses biocides
Sanitized, a Swiss provider of antimicrobial textile technologies, has added a new, biocide-free product to its Odorex range, designed to inhibit sweat odours in fabrics.
This latest offering, named OX20, can not only be applied to cotton, viscose or synthetic fibres, the company said, but can also be combined with other textile effects and used on all common substrates.
Sanitized further described the innovation as highly wash-resistant, able to maintain “excellent results” after up to 50 home laundries. It can be applied in extraction, pad and spray, the supplier added.
Particle-free, OX20 shows no negative effects on moisture management, nor has it been found to alter hand-feel. At the core of its odour-neutralising technology is an unspecified metal-free polymer.
“We are convinced that biocide-free solutions that fight sweat odour are on their way to becoming the new market standard [for] outdoor, sports and workwear,” commented Santitized’s product manager for textile additives, Urs Zihlmann. “Odorex meets industry standards as well as consumer standards regarding durability and sustainability [and] OX20 is not subject to any regulatory restrictions.”
