Sanitized presents ‘more sustainable’ Puretec

Swiss supplier of antimicrobial additives for polymers Sanitized recently unveiled a new product, Puretec, which it said can deliver long-lasting freshness for synthetic activewear (and, crucially, “all fibre types”).

The company described Puretec as a metal-free, non-leaching and particle-free antimicrobial solution for textiles, which can help prevent build-up of odour-causing bacteria. It presented the product as a more sustainable option, due to it reportedly allowing the end consumer to “wear the products they love for longer periods of time before having to wash them again.”

Technically, the active ingredient’s non-leaching properties mean that Puretec’s quaternary silane-based antimicrobial finish remains fixed to the surface of fabric, which in turn works to reduce unwanted, odour-causing bacteria on contact. This functionality is achieved by utilising the high cationic charge density of a fully polymerised siloxane polymer network, Sanitized stated.
